Phyllis Kalele

Biografía

Phyllis Kalele is the Environment, Science, Technology and Health specialist at the U.S. Embassy in Pretoria. Prior to this, she was the head of the African Collaboration and Gender in STI sub-programmes at the Academy of Science of South Africa (ASSAf) . From 2019 to 2020 she was the Africa Regional Focal Point Coordinator for Gender in Science, Innovation, Technology and Engineering (GenderInSITE), a global, multi-sectoral, multi-stakeholder initiative to promote the role of women in SITE. Before joining ASSAf, she was a senior environmental consultant at RHDHV, an international engineering consulting firm. She currently serves as a project advisory board member of the Centre for Global Higher Education, University of Oxford, U.K. and as a volunteer researcher on the Global Future Council on the Future of Clean Air at the World Economic Forum. She holds a BSc. in Botany and Zoology, a MSc. in Environmental Sciences and a PhD. in Science and Technology.
