A team of TIPC researchers are conducting a cross-country study on the implications of STI agencies’ use of the TIPC framework across different national geographies.
This study seeks to understand how the TIP policy narrative associated with transition processes – and an associated set of policy practices to support this – work across very uneven geographies i.e. spaces defined by contrasting social relations and practices of policy making?
By talking to actors who work in different STI agencies engaged in TIP, the study will examine the ways transformations are seen by themselves and their agencies. This may be influenced by many factors, including institutional arrangements of policy making and the organisational culture of the relevant agencies, all of which contribute to individual expectations about the implementation of socio-technical transitions, and indicating how TIPC may have influenced these expectations.
Imogen Wade, Research Fellow In Transformative Innovation, said “Now that TIPC is in full steam of its implementation phase, it is important that we begin to compare experiences of how the TIPC methodology is being implemented across the very different political, economic, and cultural contexts of the member countries.”
The team are interviewing policy makers across the TIPC member countries, with the goal to conclude interviews by mid-January 2021 and produce a paper by the end of February.
If you or a colleague would be willing to participate in a 45 minute interview for this study, please email Matias Ramírez (M.Ramirez@sussex.ac.uk) or Imogen Wade (I.Wade@sussex.ac.uk).
