Ian Hugues

Biographie
Dr Ian Hughes holds a joint position as Assistant Principle Officer in science, technology and innovation (STI) policy at the Department of Further and Higher Education, Research, Innovation and Science (DFHERIS), and as a Senior Research Fellow at the MaREI Research Centre for Energy, Climate and Marine at University College Cork. Ian’s focus is on providing a link between research and policy in order to assist policymakers in Ireland’s transition to sustainability. A major focus is on embedding system innovation thinking within Ireland’s innovation policy system. He is also leader of the transdisciplinary project Deep Institutional Innovation for Sustainability and Human Development (DIIS) which aims to lay the foundations for a critique and reimagining of the major social institutions in society – economics, democracy, religion, technology, gender and higher education – and the development of principles, visions, and imaginaries for guiding the coming transformations.
