Lina Sonne

Biography

Dr. Lina Sonne is an Innovation Economist with over 15 years of experience participating in, and leading, research on practice and policy across inclusive innovation; social entrepreneurship; venture philanthropy; technology, gender and inclusion; and the future of work in India. Lina has undertaken projects in multiple South Asian countries and works across critical needs sectors including healthcare, agriculture, financial inclusion, livelihoods and energy. She works through her own startup - Inblick Innovation Advisory. Previously, she was Head of Innovation and Entrepreneurship at Okapi, where she built a research and consulting portfolio on innovation and entrepreneurship for social impact, and the creative industries. Before that, she co-led research at Intellecap, Mumbai; and was Assistant Professor at Azim Premji University, Bangalore, where she was part of the team setting up an MA Development. Prior to moving to India, she was a researcher on innovation and technology policy with UNU-MERIT, the Netherlands. Lina holds a PhD in Economics and Policy of Technical Change from UNU-MERIT and Maastricht University, an MSc in Business Economics from City, University of London, and a PG Diploma in Modern & Contemporary Indian Art History and Curatorial Studies from the Bhau Daji Lad Museum in Mumbai. She has been living and working in India since 2011, and is based out of Mumbai.
