Marina Szapiro

Biography
Marina Szapiro is a PhD in Economics of Industry and Technology from the Economics Institute of Federal University of Rio de Janeiro (UFRJ); has a master in Economics of Industry and Technology from the Economics Institute of Federal University of Rio de Janeiro and a degree in Economics, Economics Institute of Federal University of Rio de Janeiro. She worked as project manager at Finep (the Brazilian Innovation Agency) from 2008 until 2010. She is a Professor at the Institute of Economics of UFRJ since 2010. She has been the Research Director of the Institute of Economics of UFRJ from August 2015 until July 2019. She is an Associate Researcher of RedeSist (Research Network on Local Innovation and Production Systems) since 1997. She has coordinated research projects, supported by the Science, Technology and Innovation Ministry and the Brazilian Innovation Agency. She teaches undergraduate and postgraduate courses in Industrial and Innovation Economics, System of Innovation and Development and Industrial and Innovation Policies. Her main area of interest is Economics of Innovation, with focus on National System of Innovation approach, Industrial and Innovation Policies and Local Production and innovation system. Since 2017, Marina Szapiro is a member of the Scientific Board of the Global Network for the Economics of Learning, Innovation and Competence Building Systems (Globelics) and is also a member of the secretariat of Globelics.
