Marlous Blankesteijn

Biography

Marlous Blankesteijn is assistant professor at the Faculty of Sciences, VU University Amsterdam, Netherlands. Her research focus is on how lessons from processes of knowledge and innovation production can be translated towards a systemic level via science and innovation policy. Before her current employment at VU University, she was working as a researcher at the Rathenau Institute, a think tank on science, technology and innovation policy that is part of the Royal Academy of Sciences in The Netherlands. She advised the Dutch Parliament and the Ministry of Economic Affairs on several issues concerning the organization of publicly funded scientific research. She also worked as a consultant for a large consultancy firm (Twijnstra Gudde) in The Netherlands on questions related to the organization of research for Dutch water management. She obtained her PhD at the University of Amsterdam on a research project on innovation within the Dutch water management sector.
