Melina A. Galdos Frisancho


Dr Melina Galdos is a transdisciplinary and sustainable development sector professional. Currently, she is a Research Manager in Climate and Health at the Wellcome Trust, where she oversees a research funding portfolio focused on building capacity for Climate and Health research and uptake with a special focus on low and middle-income countries. Before that, Melina was a Research Fellow on the TIPC project 'Universities and Transitions', where she conducted research on the role of universities as relational spaces where different narratives and practices regarding development converge and started developing an approach to integrate transdisciplinary research approaches with transformative innovation to accelerate sustainable and just transitions in the Global South. Melina completed a PhD in Science and Technology Policy Studies from the Science Policy Research Unit (SPRU), University of Sussex, and holds an MA in Public Policy Research from the University of Glasgow and a BA, MA in Political Science from the Pontificia Universidad Católica del Peru (PUCP). She has coordinated networks like the Latin American Science, Technology and Innovation Group and manages the project "Share Science in Schools" in partnership with Peruvian Local Education Management Units.
